Biography

Lorenzo Ferrero was born in Turin in 1951. He studied music and philosophy.

He wrote for music theater, for orchestra and chamber music. Defined by the “New Grove Dictionary of Opera” as “the most successful opera composer of his generation in Italy “, among his most performed works are “Marilyn”, “Salvatore Giuliano”, “Charlotte Corday”and the children’s opera “La figlia del mago”.

He has completed the orchestration of the third version of “La Rondine” by Giacomo Puccini and for the 150 years of the unification of Italy he was commissioned the opera “Risorgimento!”.

He has also been active as an organizer of cultural events, such as the Puccini Festival and the Arena di Verona. He was deputy president of SIAE and is currently honorary president of the International Council of Music Authors (CIAM) and ad hoc observer at WIPO/OMPI.
